In September of 1940, Alfred and Alma Hitchcock purchased a ranch in Scotts Valley, a small town 67 miles south of San Francisco. The estate was an escape from the Hollywood grind. Alfred was able to pursue his love of wine and gardens, as well solitude. He did host his cast and othe guests for dinner and events, but really it was meant to be a way to relax away from his film life.
